X Things You Need to Know About Spanish Culture

If you have a holiday planned to Spain then you will know what an exciting experience it can be. You may feel as though you have so many exciting things ahead and that you simply can’t wait to see where life takes you. With that in mind, you do need to make sure that you understand Spanish culture, so you can make the most out of your experience.

Adapt to Spanish Time

Adapting to time zones is a huge challenge for travellers. If you are going to Spain then you may have a hard time adjusting to the late schedule. Spanish afternoons last until around 8 p.m. This means that if you want to dine out, you will need to wait until this time to get a table. A lot of Spaniards don’t eat their evening meal until way later than this and 10 pm is a really common time. This is especially the case if you are going to Madrid, so be mindful of this. The sooner you can get in sync with this kind of schedule, the easier it will be for you to make the most out of your travel experience. Tapas Culture

Spain is famous for tapas. A lot of visitors don’t have a clear idea of how the tapas culture works though. There are a lot of restaurants and if you go to a smaller place, you will notice how they have a ready-made selection for you to choose from.  In various parts of the country, you will be able to get free tapas when the time comes for you to order a drink. This could be a small sandwich or it could be a sizable portion of food. If you don’t feel as though you are a fussy eater then you can fill up on free tapas before your food even comes, which is a great way to save money.

Go North
Some of the best food in Spain comes from the North. The main reason for this is because that is where tapas comes from. It comes in the form of pintxos or pinchos a lot of the time. If you are a visitor coming from abroad then you may be tempted to go from Costa Brava or Costa Del Sol but at the end of the day, the north coast is often overlooked. A lot of this comes down to the fact that it is wetter and the weather is also way more unpredictable. In a lot of respects, it seems that the north is one of the most stunning regions of the country. It also boasts some of the best countryside in the whole of Spain, so you will not want to miss out on this. You will see there are some fantastic hiking spots and that there is so much to see and do as well, so make sure that you keep this in mind when the time comes for you to go on vacation.
