The Pamir Highway, known as M41 during the Soviet times, was the very route that was a vital part of the ancient Silk Road. The very same path that Marco Polo travelled and what connected many mighty civilisations and empires. On our Pamir Highway tour, we will take you through the most impressive, remotest, and wildest mountain ranges in the world.
Your journey commences in Osh, Kyrgyzstan’s second-largest city, regarded as the capital of the South. Then the real journey begins, as we make our way towards Tajikistan, along the Pamir Highway passing incredible mountainous landscapes, remnants of ancient empires including the recent Soviet Union with its communist relics and monuments, almost forgotten with time.
You’ll experience the hospitality of small towns and villages, which often feel like the end of the world – where life continues. These are a golden opportunity to meet and interact with the local community and learn about their fascinating culture and history.
We will take you through the Wakhan Corridor, a genuine highlight. The route takes you along the Panj, the river that separates Tajikistan from Afghanistan. The close neighbouring border towns allow you to have many opportunities to glance at the other side of the river into Afghanistan. A rare opportunity that also shows the stark contrast between both countries.
The journey will take us back to modern Central Asia civilisations, Dushanbe. We’ll explore the capital city and discover its ancient roots, historical roots in the Soviet Union to its place within regions geopolitics.
Join us, as we embrace the greatest road trip, the Pamir Highway. Complete your journey and join us along the Karakoram Highway. Combine both tours for a special rate of €4745 in total!
