Young Pioneers invites you to navigate the Osaka World’s Fair and delve into the city’s eccentric underbelly! This ain’t no ordinary expo experience – we’re talking future tech, robot cafes, raw chicken (for the daring!), a healthy dose of “WTF Japan?!”.
Extending our already iconic Extremes of Japan Tour we will take you for a sensory overload at the World’s Fair on Yumeshima Island, where three days of futuristic wonders await: immerse yourself in cutting-edge technology, mind-bending exhibits, and vibrant cultural performances from around the globe. Navigate the maze of pavilions – perhaps even the space-time continuum – as you explore the unique, man-made island built specifically for this extraordinary Expo, brimming with strange and wonderful discoveries. The theme for Expo 2025 is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
Dive into Osaka’s quirks and surprises, starting with the neon chaos of Dotonbori in Namba District, where you can dodge street performers, sample bizarre street food, and soak in the city’s vibrant energy. Step back in time at Shinsekai Toei Cinema, catching retro samurai flicks or rare “pink films” in a nostalgic setting. For culinary thrill-seekers, Osaka offers daring choices like raw chicken sashimi at Akadori Haruka alongside more familiar but equally exciting bites. As night falls, explore the intriguing Tobita Shinchi district, where historic teahouses meet a buzzing nightlife scene, promising an unforgettable – and uniquely Osaka – experience.
Heading to Kyoto will offer us some contrasts to chaotic Osaka: temples, tranquillity, and seasonal delights. Enjoy views on the Ishishimizu Hachimangu Cable Car, or relax in the traditional charm of tarashi-yu bathhouse while exploring the former imperial capital of Japan.
A YPT Japan trip wouldn’t be complete without our alternative-bizarre Tokyo visit, including Sumo- Wrestling, and a walking tour of Shinjuku Kabukicho´s dark side. Our itinerary is almost as fully packed during the night as it is during the day, and we’ll while taking in the weird and wonderful food and ightlife of the capital – eating fugu fish, visiting the Muscle Girls Bar, downing sake in Golden Gai, topping at a proper Fight Club, and visiting the slightly quirky Kagurazaka Ghost Cat Festival.
And of course, no YPT tour would be complete without at least some North Korean element, so we also check out a Pachinko saloon said to have ties with the DPRK. If you’re looking for an adventure that’s off the beaten path and full of (extreme) surprises, this is the trip for you. Buckle up for the ride!
We plan to directly link this tour to our Fukushima & Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Tour which will start on October 13, we will soon publish more details about this tour.
