Join us for our exciting summer adventure tour of the DPRK whilst the nation celebrates Liberation Day with mass dancing, fireworks and other special events to be later announced. This holiday marks the end of the Japanese occupation of Korea in 1945 and considered one of the most important national holidays. This is not your usual North Korean tour and without a doubt our most favourite tour of the year. Bring your swimmers and sunscreen as we take advantage of the beautiful hot summer season!
During our Group A tour, you’ll catch all the must-see sights of Pyongyang such as the War Museum, the Mausoleum of the leaders, ride the underground Pyongyang Metro, explore Kim Il Sung Square, the DMZ and the city of Kaesong, only 8km from the South Korean border! You’ll also have the chance to visit the concrete wall further inland along the DMZ to view South Korean and UN guard towers.
We’ll head to the port city of Nampo and its therapeutic hot spa resort on the west coast, as well as a co-op farm and nearby factories. We’ll then go for a fresh dip and hang out with the locals and their families at a nearby beach located near the famous West Sea Barrage.
For those who want to explore more, this is the perfect time to extend your adventure. Our group B tour will take you to the east coast of the Korean peninsula to the gorgeous and very sunny city of Wonsan. This is a very popular holiday destination for Koreans all over the DPRK. Here we’ll try the very fresh and delicious seafood caught along the pier and to spend a special afternoon kicking a football around, playing frisbee and swimming with the locals. We’ll also have time to explore the newly renovated International Children’s Summer Camp and nearby revolutionary sites.
You’ll also head north of Pyongyang to Mt. Myohyang which is most famous for the International Friendship Exhibition. This incredible exhibition is buried deep into the sacred mountain and holds the gifts presented to all three leaders by other governments, corporations, and individuals such as Dennis Rodman and the Globetrotters! Something definitely worth checking out!
The Mass Games, the world’s largest performance with over 100,000 performers is expected to take place during this tour! Now is your chance to watch this grand spectacular performance. Tickets are on-top of tour cost and is paid in cash during your tour in Pyongyang. We highly recommend securing your spot on tour early as we expect spaces to fill up very quickly.
