Our second and third days on land were pretty eventful, with an island landing on the first morning, but too much ice meaning that we could only do a zodiac cruise in the evening. At around midnight, and literally on cue we were delivered the northern lights, or to give them their funky name, the aurora borealis.
The second morning had us sailing onwards to our destination for the afternoon trip to the island of Sydkap, where we hiked whilst being guarded from polar bears by our guides who were “packing”.
In the evening, we had a special treat of an Arctic BBQ on deck, very similar to your average English BBQ! Overall a great two days.
