Fukushima Hotels – Business Hotel Arm Futaba

Being both the main hotel of a whole region, as well as the nightlife hub is usually a big job, but less so if you are a Fukushima Hotel, as Business Hotel Arm Futaba was to show us.

This was to be the Futaba based place where we were to spend the night of our Fukushima Tour. Was I though to be like Chernobyl? Well as it turns out not so much so.

What the Futaba?

I will not dwell too much on Futaba as it is a bit of a depressing place, but to summarize once upon a time it had 6k plus people, now it has 100.

The Arm Futaba duly marks its one and only hotel, an irony for a place that literally no one visits, save some workers. You can read about Futaba here.

Business Hotel Arm Futaba

I’ve no idea why it has such a silly name, but it is located across from the business park. The business park you ask? Well really not very much is going on here, save for the Family Mart, which closes at 8.00 – this was to be a theme.

The rooms here are actually quite nice, even if they are Japanese style tiny, as well as being made with old containers. This is the same for the few other buildings that are here.

Business Hotel Arm Futaba Facilities

Well theres vending machines, but after all this is Japan. For dinner things are a bit simpler at Arm Futaba with a simple buffet aimed at Japanese workers rather than tourists.

There is though a good restaurant towards the end and by the public bath (theres always one of them). Here they serve kind of standard Japanese fare, but are a little rude about the fact that you must leave by 8.30. Friends and indeed enemies were made here.

As night fall comes though it all gets very YPT circa 2009 with a car park party like at the Yanggakdo Hotel.

One can also get a bit random with nighttime walk along the beachfront, which is alarmingly deserted and dead, despite being beautiful. This is sadly another sad part of everything that has happened within the region.
