YPT Tours to Czechia
Our Czechia Tours are unique and the gateway to many other countries. Czechia, or the Czech Republic, stems according to a legend from the leader Čech, who brought its people to Bohemia. It is situated in Central Europe, bordering countries such as Poland and Germany. It features the most castles in Europe, has a beautiful capital city with Prague, is one of the least religious countries in the world, and beer means a great deal in this country.
During WWII, the military occupation of Czechoslovakia by Nazi Germany started with the annexation of the Sudetenland in 1938, progressed with the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, and by late 1944 had spread to the entire country.
From 1948 to 1989, Czechoslovakia was under communist rule, becoming a state within the Soviet sphere of interest and considered a satellite state. The political liberalization during the Prague spring is surely one of the most discussed events in Europe during the cold war.
With all that, the country has a lot to offer in terms of history, politics, and culture, besides their beautiful landscape, mountains, and lakes.
Group Tours to Czechia
YPT do not currently run group tours specifically to Czechia. However, we recommend extending our Poland tours with a visit to Czechia and Slovakia, just from the neighbouring Krakow, for an amazing Soviet experience.
Independent Tours to Czechia
YPT can arrange tours deep into the country, leveraging on its network of local partners, or link it with tours to Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Kaliningrad, the Baltics, and beyond.
Below is an example Czechia tour for a post-WWII and post-soviet city experience. This can be extended or combined with other activities to create independent tours. Prices depend on the number of people and what level of accommodation you desire, but YPT can arrange everything you need for perfect independent Czech tours.

- The tour concludes at the nuclear bunker museum, showcasing Cold War exhibits and a unique gas mask workshop.
- Traditional and savory lunch.
Afternoon
- In the afternoon we visit the stunning old town with the town hall and astronomical clock, the Charles bridge, the Prague castle, and a few more classical sites.
- Did you know there is a bridge in Prague nicknamed “Bridge of Intelligentsia”? This bridge was built by all the educated people who were fired from their positions (lawyers, priests, doctors, philosophers…). We will have a closer look at it, too.
- Traditional dinner in the city centre, where we will have the most amazing pork, dumplings (Knedel), and Sauerkraut. Complete with Svíčková, a famous sauce from Czech cuisine, made from root vegetables and heavy cream.

- Discover the WW2 Museum in Prague – A fascinating military museum and memorial to resistance. Discover Prague’s rich history at the Cathedral of St. Cyril and Methodius, featuring these extraordinary sites. The museum’s centrepiece revolves around the Anthropoid Operation, which played an important role in the story of Prague and Czechoslovak WW2 history.

Day 4- Brno
- Early breakfast and ~2h transfer to Brno in our private minivan. It is the second largest city in the Czech Republic and sits in the region of South Moravia. Communism persisted in Brno until the fall of the USSR. During the Velvet Revolution in 1989, Czechoslovakia was peacefully dissolved, and Brno then integrated with the Czech Republic.
- We will visit the medieval Špilberk Castle which houses a city museum, gardens and a former prison with vaulted tunnels. Originally constructed in the 13th century as a fortress, Spilberk Castle was transformed into a prison by the late 1700s, becoming notorious as the harshest prison in Europe and housing political prisoners of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. During World War I, it held Austrian dissidents, and in World War II, the Nazis used it to imprison Czech patriots who opposed the Third Reich.
- Lunch with Czech cuisine.
- Another site to pay a visit is the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, featuring baroque altars, a 14th-century statue of the Madonna and Child, and amazing city views from its steeple. We will also make sure to take a closer look at the freedom square in Brno as well.
- The tour will conclude in the afternoon in Brno, with a last coffee and cake, and we offer transport back to Prague for those in need. A night in Brno is definitely recommended though.
From here you can continue to Poland with us, or join one of our other tours in Eastern Europe like Slovakia, Hungary, or the Baltic countries or venture further on by yourself.
