YPT Tours to Bahrain

Bahrain is a small island country located off the East coast of Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf. While tiny, measuring just 786.8 km², Bahrain has a thriving economy, a developed city and interesting history – including incredible archaeological sites.

Bahrain is unfortunately often named one of the world’s most boring countries. Well, join one of our Bahrain tours to discover all the great things it has to offer!

Group Tours to Bahrain

YPT offers Bahrain tours as part of our larger Gulf Trek Tour. The Gulf Trek is currently scheduled for early 2025 and will visit 6 countries on a shoestring: Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

The Gulf Trek: Oman, UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Bahrain & Kuwait – January 15 – January 30 2025 – $3395

Independent Tours to Bahrain

If the Gulf Trek dates do not align with your availability, or you would like to just visit Bahrain, YPT can organize private independent Bahrain tours suitable for your dates of travel, period of time and budget. You can choose from any of our bespoke tours or inquire about specific tours: whether you want to explore the sea and pearl dive in Bahrain, venture into the off-the-beaten track sites or explore the futuristic cities – YPT has a tour for you!

Below is an example Barhain itinerary. This can be extended or combined with other activities to create independent tours.

Example of a Bahrain Itinerary (4 days)

Day 1: Arrive to Manama

  • Arrive at your convenience to Manama, the capital of Bahrain. You can arrive via the international airport which is well connected to countries in Asia, the Middle East and Europe, or via land by crossing the 25 km long bridge from Saudi Arabia. Funnily enough, this bridge is longer than the width of the entire country!
  • Most suburbs in Manama are called ‘Block’ with an associated number. We recommend sleeping in Block 321 or Block 318 and surrounding areas to be in the thick of the city.
  • Enjoy a local dinner, we recommend trying Chicken Machboos – the Bahrain version of chicken and flagrant rice.
  • Overnight in Manama

Day 2: Manama

  • After breakfast, you will begin your day tour of Manama. Manama, translated to ‘Sleeping Place’ in arabic is Bahrain’s capital and largest city of the country. Because of the small size of the country, most places are easily accessible by foot.
  • You will begin the day by visiting Al-Fateh Grand Mosque. This mosque is the largest in Bahrain and the country was one of the first nations to adopt Islam.
  • Next, you will head to the Isa Culture Center, a museum and cultural center supported by the royal family. Here you will learn more about Bahrain’s long history. While Bahrain has only been an independent country since 1971, human history dates back long before international recognition.
  • After the culture center, you will begin a casual stroll through the Juffair walking track. This track allows you to see the iconic Bahrain skyline by day, as well as the Persian Gulf. This walking track is one of the most famous in Bahrain and is used by tourists and locals alike.
  • For lunch, you will stop at Juffair Square, one of the most modern and urban squares in Bahrain. You can browse the shops, dine in local and international cuisine cafes and restaurants or people watch by the fountain.
  • In the afternoon, you will drive past the airport to Marassi Beach, located on the most North-Eastern Island in Bahrain. Bahrain is made up of 50 natural islands, as well as 33 artificial islands increasing its land mass. Located on Muharraq Island, you can enjoy the evening by walking on the beach, swimming or optionally participating in watersports on the beach such as knee boarding and jet boarding.
  • Enjoy sunset on the beach and dine at one of the many food outlets nearby.
  • Return to your hotel in Manama for the night.

Day 3: Manama – Dilmun Burial Mounds – Tree of Life – Qala’at al-Bahrain – Manama

  • After breakfast, visit Bab Al Bahrain (door of Bahrain), an interactive museum and exhibition space and a local souq. Try your hand at haggling in the local market space and enjoy a flashback in time!
  • Next you will visit Souq al Manama, perhaps the most famous souq in all of Bahrain. Here you can find all types of souvenirs and try some local food for lunch!
  • In the afternoon you will depart Manama to explore the ancient Dilmun burial mounds – this UNESCO World Heritage site dates back to the Dilmun and the Umm al-Nar culture which from 4000 years ago!
  • Afterwards, you can see the Tree of Life – this tree stands unique in the desert, covered in graffiti, and the size of it makes an impressive sight amongst the oil wells and desert, especially considering it doesn’t have an obvious water source!
  • After a long day of adventuring, you can see the sunset from the top of the Qala’at al-Bahrain, the Bahrain Fort. Built on Dilmun settlements over 3000 years old, it was built during the 14th century but has since been renovated. The fort is located just outside of Manama and offers stunning views of the area.
  • Dinner at Block 331 before overnight in Manama.

Day 4:  Manama

  • In the morning, you can head to the Manama port for some hands-on pearl diving. As the only remaining country that practices pearl diving in the gulf, you will get to try our hands at the centuries-old craft. Whether you want to snorkel, or simply relax on the boat, you could harvest up to 60 oysters!
  • In the evening, transfer to the airport for departure from Bahrain. Alternatively, continue on to Saudi Arabia via the Bahrain Bridge.
