Bangladesh, which used to promote itself with the slogan “visit Bangladesh before the tourists come”, can be considered the world’s least touristic country, with 1,273 local per tourist according to data from 2016. It is also, according to us, one of the most underrated countries we know – that’s why we present to you our Bangladesh Unbound Tour!
A land of rivers, Bangladesh offers frantic action and the same kind of noise, colours and fragrance overload as India, only without the peddlers and the hordes of tourists.
This tour is an action-packed trip which goes in depth into the country, using all kinds of memorable local transportation. We’ll be zipping through the country using its iconic rickshaws, trains and, last but not least, sleeping on a paddle-steamer. Bangladesh is filled with one-of-a-kind experiences which can only be found here.
You’ll journey from the chaotic capital city of Dhaka to the fishermen village of Narail where you’ll get an insight to a seldom seen Bangladesh and have first-hand experience with otter fishing, a traditional method of fishing that involves the use of trained otters to assist in catching fish. This centuries-old technique has disappeared in almost all of Asia; it’s truly one of the last chances to see it in practice.
In Sundarbans, home of the majestic Bengal Tiger, you’ll have the chance to sleep in the largest mangrove forest in the world and look for its abundant wildlife. You’ll also see the city of Bagerhat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its numerous mosques.
The trip will also take you to Barishal where you’ll see the largest floating market of Bangladesh and a fascinating timber market operating on the banks of the many tiny rivers and canals that make up the mystical southern region.
