Join YPT for our Papua New Guinea Essentials tour, where you’ll experience rural life firsthand, take part in cultural events, and witness captivating performances by some of the country’s most renowned tribes.
Your journey with us begins in Port Moresby, the vibrant capital of Papua New Guinea, where we’ll explore the city’s major landmarks before venturing into the highlands. Our next stop is Mount Hagen, where you’ll experience some of the region’s key attractions before heading deeper into rural village life. Here, in the home of our local team, you’ll witness an intimate cultural performance arranged especially for our group. This unique experience offers the chance to connect with the local tribe through traditional body painting and by sharing in a customary Mumu feast.
Next, we achieve a YPT first and a milestone for Mount Hagen by staying overnight in our hosts’ village, marking the region’s very first homestay program. This groundbreaking initiative is proudly supported by YPT – and by you.
We then continue our tour toward Mount Wilhelm, stopping at stunning scenic spots along the way before arriving at the home of the legendary Skeleton Men. Here, you’ll witness a captivating performance by the tribe and have the unique opportunity to stay overnight in a breathtaking location nestled on the mountain.
We’ll then make our way to Goroka for the return flight to Port Moresby, where the tour concludes. This trip offers not only one of the most competitively priced but also one of the most comprehensive Papua New Guinea experiences available. For those looking to explore even more, it can also be combined with our Least Visited Countries tour.
