Our Bhutan National Day Tour, in December 2025, will take you to this serene and mystical Buddhist kingdom at a perfect time, with dry weather, plenty of sunshine, and snow-capped mountains on the horizon. Join discover how Bhutan made happiness a national priority, and enjoy a place where time slows down and where every moment is infused with profound culture and stunning natural beauty.
The Bhutanese National Day, celebrated annually on December 17th, commemorated the coronation of the first King of Bhutan, Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuck, in 1907. During your visit, you’ll see the procession taking place in Changlimithang Stadium, showcasing traditional Bhutanese attire, masks, and cultural performances. Local communities organize their own celebrations, often involving traditional games, food, and cultural activities, so this is once again a perfect time to visit.
Due to Bhutan’s strict tourism regulations, the country remains refreshingly free of mass tourism, offering a truly unique experience. As one of the few remaining absolute monarchies, Bhutan has expertly preserved its rich traditions amidst the pressures of globalization.
Thanks to YPT’s established local connections, we’ve crafted an unforgettable yet affordable tour that highlights the best of Bhutan.
In this journey, we’ll explore Thimphu, the capital, visiting its museums and monasteries, as well as night life. Next, we’ll head to Punakha to visit the Temple of Fertility, an intriguing site created by the Divine Madman, a 15th-century yogi known for using humour and boldness to teach salvation through sex.
Of course, no trip to Bhutan would be complete without experiencing the awe-inspiring Paro Taktsang, or Tiger’s Nest – a monastery dramatically perched on a cliff, symbolizing Bhutan’s deep faith and impressive architectural legacy.
For those seeking to extend their adventure, we offer an optional add-on in Nepal, perfect for a more comprehensive exploration of the region.
