Despite the current war in Ukraine travel from Krakow to Lviv in 2024 is actually pretty easy, so how do you do it

Krakow to Lviv, plane, train, or bus?
Sadly the war means that travel from Krakow to Lviv is not currently possible by plane, in fact currently there are no non-military planes to Ukraine, with even Boris Johnson having to go by car.
You can read about Boris Johnson here .
This leaves the train, or the bus. For these we have done both, with night journeys best by train (bed) and day ones best by the comfortable bus. You can also mix and match the two, something we do on our current tours to Ukraine. This involves us doing the night train to Lviv from Kiev and then the bus back to Krakow.
Taking the bus from Krakow to Lviv
We should mention that while this is the most comfortable option it is also the most expensive at 75 Euro. If you are on a budget do trains or local buses.
Said bus leaves at 9.20 am, with you hitting the border at about 1 pm. The border in from Poland to Ukraine takes 2 long hours. The actual immigration part is easy, what is hard is the customs part. Essentially lots of stuff is getting “imported” right now and this needs to be checked.
Thankfully the bus actually has good wifi, so you can work, or watch me on TikTok, whichever you prefer.
Once through it is then about a 2 hour drive from the border of Ukraine and Poland to Lviv, a city very similar to Krakow in many ways. You are topped off at the bus and train station which is near everything in this small compact city.
