This is the big one. You could call it our Ultimate Africa tour, traveling through four of the most fascinating and diverse countries in north and west Africa for nearly a whole month! From Africa’s largest country of Algeria to riding in an open-topped train through the Sahara desert in Mauritania. Then from the local traditional tribes of Mali to the revolution-studded history of Burkina Faso. And oh so much more, if you’ve got the time to sift through our enormous itinerary! You can break up the tour as you wish, leave out one and take a break before joining on the next, but I’m sure there’s a lot of you out there who want that one enormous African odyssey! Well this is it!
Starting off in the north-African nation of Algeria, we’re be exploring the dazzling capital of Algiers and the Roman ruins of Djemila, the so-called “City of Bridges” in Constantine and the villages of Ghardaia, among many others amazing spots on this nine day tour. After arriving in Nouakchott, Mauritania (at your own convenience, as flights are not included in price), we’ll visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Chinguetti and the marvellous painted boats at the coast of the capital before boarding the famous mineral train (the longest and heaviest in the whole world) to speed our way around the country for even more amazing sights!
From there, fly to Bamako, the capital of Mali to visit some truly outstanding mud-brick mosques, UNESCO world heritage sites and traditional tribes like the Dogon people who may even show us a traditional mask ceremony. We’ll even spend a night camping out under the stars! At long last, we’ll then be heading to the Burkinabe capital of Ouagadougou, where we’ll set out on another adventure to see stunning natural beauty spots like 2 billion year old Fabedougou domes, as well as getting up close and (reasonably) personal with some hippos along the river!
To include everything we’ll be seeing in this brief summary would just be far too much, so check out the itinerary for yourself. And hey, you can bet there’ll be some more adventures sprinkled along that we couldn’t possibly know going in. Expect to be surprised with even more marvels of Africa along the way!
