Central Asia Tours 2024

Bored of isolation and champing at the bit to get moving again? Well here are a few of our Central Asia Tours highlights that you can look forward to in 2024.

Afghanistan Mega Tour, May

Like with all of our Afghanistan tours we don’t publish these itineraries online as a security precaution. We have three Afghanistan tours in 2024, but this is the longest and the most in-depth, so if you really want to find out what Afghanistan’s all about, this is the tour to go on. Beginning and ending in Kabul, we’ll visit Mazar e Sharif, Balkh, Samangan, Bamiyan and Panjshir, and you’ll see Afghanistan in a light that most of the world never will.

Numbers are capped at 7 and reserved for returning Pioneers, so if you’re interested in joining us for this please get in touch for the itinerary and details.

Central Asian Summer Combo

An 18-day insight into three former-Soviet Central Asian countries, this Central Asia tour has everything from the Gates of Hell and the famous white marble city of Ashgabat, to the Silk Road history of Bukhara and Samarqand, to Kyrgyzstan’s cosmopolitan capital of Bishkek for their Independence Day, a quick game of Kok Boru and some of the most pristine and remote countryside you’ve ever imagined.

Some other highlights of the tour include exploring some abandoned Soviet buildings in Kyrgyzstan, the Independence Day parade and concert in Bishkek, and the glamorous but deserted beach resort of Avaza on the Turkmen shore of the Caspian Sea.

The tour can also be done in smaller sections as the Turkmenistan Uzbekistan Summer Combo and the Kyrgyzstan Independence Day Tour.

Turkmenistan Independence Day Tour

Part of out Central Asia Tours 2021, Turkmenistan Independence Day Tour

If it’s Turkmenistan that takes your fancy, then this is the tour for you. Seeing Ashgabat during the Independence Day period is something totally unique and honestly, impossible to properly do justice by trying to describe. We go to all our favourite places on this tour too – the Gates of Hell, Avaza, Nokhur Cemetery, just to name a few, but on top of that we’ll be the only tourists at the Independence Day concert and the most important horse race of the Turkmen calendar.

Because of the sensitive nature of the timing, it’s even more imperative than usual that we submit our letter of invitation applications as early as possible, so please try and book up at least 3 months in advance if possible.

Can’t get that long off work, or you’ve already been to Turkmenistan and just want to see the festivities? Well you can just join for Independence Day on the Budget Tour.

Five Stans Budget Tour

Part of our Central Asia Tours 2021, the Five Stans Budget Tour

Keen to get an overview of Central Asia, but don’t have enough time to do each country thoroughly? Well, we’ve designed this Central Asia Tour for especially you. Starting in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, we’ll make our way through all five former-Soviet Stans, ending in Almaty, Kazakhstan. On the way we’ll stop at loads of highlights, including the Gates of Hell, the Registan in Samarqand, Iskanderkul Lake in Tajikistan, Parkent Solar Furnace (a spectacular Soviet construction a short drive from Tashkent), an overnight stay at a sanatorium in the formerly closed town of Yangiabad, several examples of Kyrgyzstan’s natural beauty, and the cosmopolitan city of Almaty. This is the first of three Five Stans tours we’re running in 2024, so if the dates don’t work for this one, hopefully they do for one of the others in either June or October
