Don’t miss out on our triumphant return to Turkmenistan this summer! A country that falls well below most traveller’s radars but is one of the most unique countries not only within the Stans, but in the entire world!
Your journey starts with us in the “White Marble City” of Ashgabat, you’ll be blinded by the white & gold monuments and buildings of the new city, including the world’s largest indoor Ferris Wheel (Wheel of Enlightenment), the largest structure in the shape of a horse (Olympic Horse Stadium) and a whole monument dedicated to the proud fact that Turkmenistan is the only completely neutral country according to the UN Arch of Neutrality.
We’ll then embark on our journey through the Karakum Desert where you’ll explore the Ancient UNESCO world heritage archaeological sites along the Silk Road such as an ancient fortress, a dragon themed mosque, underground thermal springs, an abandoned futurist tourist town, an untouched tribal village, and Yangykala Canyon – what was once a seabed is now scattered with all sorts of fossils and it stretches as far as the eye can see. We’ll return to Ashgabat on an overnight Soviet sleeper train.
No trip to Turkmenistan is complete without a trip to Davaza or better known as “The Gates of Hell“. A 70 meter wide crater which was a result of a failed Soviet gas exploration, and has been on fire since 1971.
Turkmenistan is a place oozing in both history and quirkiness. This is the perfect way to see all the must-sees of Turkmenistan, along with some of the more unusual places that you might not have heard of before.
